In India, the Corporate Advisory Consultants industry was dominated by the Large global consultancy firms upto almost a decade ago. However, with the surge in opportunity for growth of midcap and small companies, India can see an efflux of young entrepreneurs. SBR stands for Sagacious, Benevolent & Refulgent and adding more about the inception story of the firm and what motivates them to offer top-notch services to their clients, Rakesh says, “Our story is a typical filmy one, ‘youngboys from small towns coming to big cities to chase their dreams’. The firm was co-founded by me & Bikash. Both of us were classmates and had met when we were studying for our CA Exams back in the year 2005, in Kolkata.
We both had similar aspirations and thus, we decided to open our own CA Firm after passing out in 2008. In 2009, we started the firm from our Mumbai home and with barely 1 Laptop. Since we were new in Mumbai, we were facing a lot of difficulties in getting business. Through Individual clients, we started to create our brand value and gradually through client referrals, we got more business.
We started off from scratch and today, we have 5 offices in India with 7 Chartered Accountants as Partners. Presently, PAN India we have a total staff strength of 50. Our motto is ‘nothing is beyond reach when you align vision with soul and action’. And this is what has motivated us to reach where we are today. Speaking of consultancy, I wish to reiterate a quote which I read recently, “Consultants are the unsung heroes who remain in the shadow of any company’s success story. A single advice of the consultant has the potential to make or break a company, this makes it imperative to choose your consultant wisely”.
When asked about the increasing scale of their operations and their future plans, Bikash says, “We are primarily targeting the entry level Start-ups. These Start-ups require round the clock strategic advisory services to grow their business and we are trying to help them in their growth path. Apart from start-up advisory, we are also currently on the path of gaining expertise in areas of FEMA, International Taxation, Bankruptcy Laws & NCLT related matters.
