Screenshots of Profile Pictures on WhatsApp Not Allowed for Android Users

By Consultants Review Team Friday, 15 March 2024

Taking screenshots of your contacts' profile images will no longer be authorized. In order to improve user safety, WhatsApp is prohibiting Android users from capturing screenshots of other users' profile images. However, the iPhone can still capture screenshots of profile images. Even while users may hide their profile images from contacts they haven't saved, WhatsApp's new approach will prevent people from exploiting the photographs of others.

According to an Android Police report, WhatsApp has been spotted working on a new feature in February 2024. Even though Meta hasn't announced anything publicly, they appear to be heavily testing it. We at India Today Tech attempted to take a snapshot of a profile image with an Android phone but were unable after many efforts. As soon as we attempted to take a photo, we received a message on our Android phone that it was not permitted. However, we were still able to grab a screenshot using our iPhone.Notably, the function is enabled by default; it cannot be turned on or off manually. Even if your WhatsApp is not up to date, you will be unable to snap a screenshot.

If you want to keep your WhatsApp profile image hidden from specific persons or from everyone, we have you covered. Follow these instructions to conceal your profile image from certain contacts. Remember that you'll need to repeat these procedures every time you want to add someone new to your secret list. This functionality is compatible with both iOS and Android smartphones.
