The Mumbai Police Department apprehended an MBA student who allegedly threatened veteran industrialist and former Tata Sons chairman Ratan Tata. ANI stated that the detectives discovered the anonymous caller had schizophrenia throughout the investigation.
According to a senior official, the caller ordered the police to beef up Ratan Tata's security, failing which he threatened the industry titan with the same fate as former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry. Mistry was killed in an automobile accident on September 4, 2022.
After receiving the call, Mumbai Police stepped on high alert, and a special squad was assigned to look after Ratan Tata's security while the other team was tasked with gathering information about the caller.
According to ANI, authorities tracked down the caller using technical support and the assistance of a telecom service provider, adding that his location was discovered to be in Karnataka although he was a resident of Pune.
When police arrived at his Pune home, they learned that the caller had been gone for five days and that his wife had filed a report at the city's Bhosari police station.
Police questioned the caller's relatives further and discovered that he suffers from schizophrenia and stole the phone from someone's residence without alerting them.
According to the officer, he called the Mumbai Police control center and threatened Ratan Tata. Because the caller was diagnosed with schizophrenia, authorities opted not to pursue legal action against him. They discovered that the caller has an MBA in finance as well as a background in engineering.
