Pavan Davuluri Appointed by Microsoft as its New Head of Windows and Surface

Previously, Microsoft held leadership positions for Windows and Surface separately. Mikhail Parakhin led them, and Pavan Davuluri led them. Davuluri is now in charge of both the Surface and Windows products.

The hiring of a new leader for Microsoft Windows and Surface has been announced by Microsoft. Former student of IIT Madras Pavan Davuluri took over when Panos Panay, who was heading the department, left. Panay resigned from his job to work for Amazon last year. Previously, Microsoft held leadership positions for Windows and Surface separately. Mikhail Parakhin led them, and Pavan Davuluri led them. Davuluri is now in charge of both the Surface and Windows products.

He will answer directly to Microsoft's chief of experiences and devices, Rajesh Jha, in his new position. In a message, Jha said that Windows is reorganizing its Windows and devices division. "This will enable us to take a holistic approach to building silicon, systems, experiences, and devices that span Windows client and cloud for this AI era," the document stated, according to the article.

Davuluri is now a part of an exclusive group of Indian Americans who run the largest tech companies in Silicon Valley. Alphabet, the parent firm of Google, is led by CEO Sundar Pichai, a Madurai native and IIT alumnus. Since 2014, Satya Nadella has led Microsoft as its CEO. Other well-known CEOs of international IT businesses are Neal Mohan of YouTube, Shantanu Narayen of Adobe, Nikesh Arora of Palo Alto Networks, Arvind Krishna of IBM, and Ravi Kumar S of Cognizant.
