The inception story of ABC Techno Labs dates back to the year 2006 when Mr. G. Murugesh was operating his own power loom business and textile dyeing unit based in Erode, a district in the states of Tamil Nadu. During that time, he came across one of the key issues that was consequent of the pollution problem caused by the effluents from dyes & other substances and was harming the environment at a large. Murugesh observed how several small-scale industries were closed due to the pollution problem and they had no effective measures to be initiated or taken. This somehow fuelled his interest towards bringing in unique changes driven by latest technologies, innovations, plants & methodologies. He immediately shifted his base from Coimbatore to Chennai to venture ABC Techno Labs India Private Limited, a environmental consultancy firm dedicated towards the overall development of the environment with its consultancy & lab-based turnkey solutions. Coming into being by 7 employees who have rich experience of over 30-40 years in the environmental field, ABC Techno Labs is said to be the country’s first consultancy firm that is accredited by National Accreditation Board for Education & Training (NABET). Equipped with the largest single site Environmental, Food, Air & Microbiology Testing Laboratory of worth 22 crores investment, ABC has come a long way to currently serve25 varied sectors. Explicating on the journey,G.Murugesh, Managing Director, ABC Techno Labs, says, “My passion towards environment and its protection has helped me institutionalize ABC Techno Labs. Today with our presence we are able to serve and solve the environmental related concerns in all the sectors with our simple, lab-based and sustainable solutions.”
Consultancy, Lab & Turnkey Solutions
Chennai based ABC Techno Labs offers its services in three dimensions viz.-‘Consultancy Services, Laboratory Service & Turnkey Solutions’. The core services provided by ABC include environmental studies like
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Study, Environmental Management Study (EMP), Risk Assessment, flood management, modelling studies, carbon trading & climate change, environmental monitoring, food & microbiology testing, Drugs & Pharma, domestic water treatment plants, industrial wastewater treatment plants, sewage, operations & management and so on.
Enduring a struggling phase for a couple of years in terms of own laboratory, manpower, the company gained momentum when Dr. Muttiah Mariappan, a former member secretary of Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board joined him. Soon after this, the company began hiring experts in all fields related to risk assessment, wastewater management and started its own lab. Overcoming the initial challenges and hurdles, Mariappan avers, “Currently, we not only do environmental impact studies or site assessment for industries who want to set up operations but we also give them a detailed report with risk assessment with environmental management plan and then submit the report to the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change & get them the required clearance on their behalf.” Murugesh adds, “We are been recognized as the No. 1 company in India by Ministry of Environmental, Forest & Climate Change from the Quality Council of India .”
The Future Plans
ABC Techno Labs with a 300 member team has spread its branches across cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jaipur and others in a short span of 11 years. The clientele includes BARC, NTPC, ITC Limited, TCS, Tata Power, Ashok Leyland, Larsen & Toubro, Sutherland Global Services, Airports Authority of India, Reliance Industries, Alstom Transport, BPCL, IOCL, and others. With a regional office in Delhi and generating revenue of nearly 30 crores, following this Ms. G.M.Priyankha D/o Mr. G. Murugesh joined as Director to contribute her dynamic support. Ms. G.M.Priyankha concludes, “We are looking forward to the international market like Dubai & Australia by 2019. Apart from having offices in all major cities, we will also be establishing our labs in the regional offices and focus more towards quality & time delivery of services.”
