The Role of Leadership in Organizational Transformation

As the word suggests, LEADER is the one who takes Lead and as John C Maxwell says, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way”.  The process of showing the way towards success in Leadership and, every leader has their way of thinking and acting towards the situation. A leader is a person responsible to look through all the actions of the team and plan accordingly to accomplish the goals. One cannot be a leader from the earliest.

Leadership is a process of building self towards a mission by learning through various phases and establishing in person along with the team and the firm. It is the quality that comes within one’s self and the way he/she carries it in taking the firm in the direction of success. In today’s changing world, a leader has to adapt the rapidly shifting trends in the industry and keep the staff and the company updated accordingly. With several developments, a leader has to choose the best for his organization and acclimatize to the workforce culture. The leader can transform the organization in several ways, the leader heads the company towards success and sometimes, this may also turn out as a reason for failure. So, it is up to the leader that, if he wants to transform the firm into a successful one or towards the downfall.

Following are the roles of the Leadership that influences in the transformation of the company:


The employees always follow the leader; so, if the employees have to remain loyal to the company, firstly the leader has to remain honest with the organization and work with all respect and sincerity towards the accomplishment of the objectives.


The Leadership quality comes when the person thinks he/she is enough responsibility to handle the team and lead them with the proper guidance. The leader has to be responsible enough to work, facing all the challenges that occur while completing the projects taken up by the team.


Sometimes due to a known or unknown error projects may fail and that bring losses to the company, during such situations the leader has to remain committed to the company and encourage his teammates to stand with the company and work to gain back its position.

Decision Making

Leadership quality also depends on the ability of decision making. In the transformation of the organization, the command over decisions plays the key role, as the leader has the authority of all the planning and procedure involved in achieving the objective. By, sitting on the decision-making table the leader has to choose according to the benefits of the company and the decisions that will support in the development of the firm.


Leaders act as a voice to the organization, they are the person who initiates the flow of communication within the organization. The leaders should always communicate with the team and the employees to keep track of the working process and, to check if any difficulty has risen. Leadership also comes forward by keeping the team encouraged to work with a positive attitude towards the organization. The leader has to be a good communicator in informing the employees about the changes over the process of the work.


A leader should always work smartly and strategize according to the availability of the resources. Building a most effective strategy with the best use of the skillful employees and the obtainable resources a leader can help the business in gaining the profit and also, a good position in the market.


The leader should never think that he has all the knowledge and the skills required, one should always be discovering and exploring new trends emerging in the industry. By discovering things, a leader will adopt them in the process of work to make things easier to his team.

In the transformation of the organization, the leadership plays an effective role, making the company reach the heights of success and being recognized in the industry. With the ongoing changes in the technology and market, the leader has to transform the organization using his skills and abilities.
