Frontier Technology Labs (FTLs) were unveiled on Wednesday by Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, and Meta with the goal of democratizing future technologies and enabling young people to develop.

Atal Innovation Mission and Meta plan to establish Field Test Libraries (FTLs) in strategically important schools to guarantee equitable access to frontier technologies for students from a wide range of backgrounds nationwide.

Mission Director, AIM, NITI Aayog Chintan Vaishnav remarked, "These Labs will serve as hubs for innovation, providing students with the necessary tools to explore and contribute to the cutting-edge fields that will shape the future."

Featuring all of the components of the Tinkering Lab to enable students to innovate using technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, cybersecurity, robotics, 3D printing, and the internet of things, the FTL is an upgraded version of the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL).

Via interesting workshops, interactive sessions, and project-based learning, students will receive training in a variety of areas, including efficient use of AI tools, comprehension of generative AI & prompt engineering, and interactive exploration of scientific topics via AR & VR. "We are fostering an ecosystem of innovation, creativity, and problem-solving by enabling students to build solutions using generative AI, AR, VR, and other technologies that are reshaping our world," stated Shivnath Thukral, Director and Head of Public Policy India, Meta.

10,000 ATLs have been installed in schools throughout 722 districts in India by AIM as of right now. Launched in September 2023, Meta's Education to Entrepreneurship project includes the FTLs. The IT giant's partner 1M1B (One Million for One Billion) will oversee these laboratories.
