There are rumors that "Friend Map," a new feature, is being developed for Instagram, the popular photo-sharing app owned by Meta. This planned tool, as its name suggests, will let users of the social networking site to see their friends' positions across a map. The potential new functionality was originally observed by a software engineer. Software engineer Alessandro Paluzzi first noticed the functionality a few months ago and shared a screenshot on X.
The pictures he shared appear to indicate that users would be able to customize who their friends on the network may see where they are. Additionally, there's a function called "Ghost mode" that lets you hide your position rather than reveal it when you want to. It's crucial to remember that end-to-end encryption protects the location data.
How will Instagram's 'Friend Map' function?
The feature's functioning looks to be similar to Snap Map's. It also appears to offer the ability to write comments straight into the map, enabling users to update their contacts on noteworthy occasions or their locations, such going shopping for new pants at the mall.
Paluzzi posted screenshots of the feature, but it's still in the early stages of development, and it's not certain if it will make it into the official Instagram app. Media sources, however, indicate that Paluzzi frequently releases Instagram features ahead of their official debut.
In India, Instagram opens the Creator Marketplace
In India and seven other areas, Meta just launched its Instagram Creator Marketplace. Two years ago, the platform was first introduced in the US. It functioned as a portal for marketers to go through and get in touch with creator accounts in order to produce branded content or partnership ads.
Content-producing Instagram users may also utilize this site to curate a portfolio of their images and highlight companies or hobbies that they are passionate about.
