Google Doodle Unveils Index Finger Voting Sign Indicating Lok Sabha Elections 2024

On Friday, April 19, Google unveiled a doodle to commemorate the start of the Indian Lok Sabha Elections of 2024.

Voters in every state will be returning to polling places to cast their ballots as a result of this doodle's nationwide prominence. The classic voting mark, represented by the index finger in the doodle, symbolizes the symbolic act of voting.

The BJP-led NDA and the INDIA alliance are expected to engage in a fierce contest in this year's 18th Lok Sabha elections. 102 seats are being covered by elections being held in 17 states and 4 Union Territories (UTs) during phase 1 polling. Over 16.63 crore eligible voters will have 1.87 lakh polling places set up for the first phase of voting.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that polling would take place from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. The ECI has set June 4 for the vote counting.

In states like Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and portions of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Tripura, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Manipur, Assam, and Bihar, the first round of elections is scheduled for today, April 19.
