Today, India is the second most largely populated country after China, and with about 60 to 65 percent of the country’s population still in the early 20 or 30 years, there is no doubt that the country has high requirement of job amongst people. Candidates are in search of their dream jobs that would bring their skills and knowledge to the right use while allowing them to grow professionally, while recruiters on the other hand are also looking out for suitable candidates who can fulfill their job requirements.Gone are the days when people would wait for the weekly newspaper supplements to look for any job openings. In today’s era, Internet is changing the hiring landscape in India. With online job boards, social media groups and recruitment firms, candidates as well as the employers are heading to digital platforms to meet their respective requirements.

As per a report by the Indian Staffing Federation (ISF) research, there would be a rise of about three million jobs within the IT space, thus catapulting India’s tech team to reach a figure of 7 million by 2023. While the current pandemic situation has raised concern amongst Indian masses, it is an interesting thing to observe how today’s businesses are making use of technology to adapt to this change. As quoted in Economic Times, The Adecco Group India Country Manager and MD Marco Valsecchi says, "By leveraging technology, using the web and video conferencing, telecommunication applications like Skype and WhatsApp, we have been successful in maintaining an agile, modern and cautious approach to recruiting, which is now imperative during these unprecedented times".

With online job boards, there has been an expansion in the access to employment opportunities. The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry states that the employers frequently complained about the difficulty they faced when filling a vacant position in the organization. However, today, not just online job portals but also social media is also paving its way ahead, with social connections and informal networks acting as a key link favoring a candidate in job search.

Certainly, technology has been a game changer for recuitment industry. While online job portals are successfully bridging the gap between the recruiters and the job seekers, the easy access of internet amongst people has also made it easier to look for a suitable job opening on a single platform. This has also provided people with an equal opportunity to apply for a job without any discrimination. From easy access to quality information about the employer to understanding the job role before getting on board and easy market analysis before locking a company and position, technology has clearly empowered the job seekers. And not just job seekers, technology is enabling almost every industry to create new jobs at every step. While the modern job seekers have this undying thirst to land the best job, the modern employers are also visionaries who are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to adopting latest technologies and tapping the best outcome.
