On Thursday, Tata Electronics, which manufactures parts for Apple iPhones, said that it will partially resume operations at the Tamil Nadu facility that was damaged by fire.
A representative for the business stated, "Since Saturday, we have been working hard to determine the cause of the fire at our Hosur facility."
"Working towards resuming full operations, all team members will continue to receive full pay," stated a spokeswoman.
According to a source and an industry analyst, significant damage from a fire at the Tata Group's Apple AAPL.O iPhone component facility in southern India might impede production ahead of a spike in sales over the holiday season, requiring the U.S. firm's suppliers to arrange for crucial parts to be shipped from China or elsewhere.
The Tata facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, which is the only Indian provider of iPhone back panels and certain other parts for both the nation's contract manufacturer Foxconn and its own iPhone assembly at another plant, has had its production put on indefinite hold due to the weekend fire.
During the Indian festive season, which spans from late October to early November, Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Research projects local sales of 1.5 million units of the iPhone 14 and 15 models. Because of the fire, Apple is only able to meet up to 15% of that demand.
