According to recent disclosures, Jeff Bezos, the Founder and Executive Chair of Amazon, sold more than $452 million worth of the company's shares. The transactions took place over the course of two days.
On July 9, Bezos sold 19,96,015 shares of Amazon at an average price of $200.1198. The sale of 266,396 Amazon shares at a weighted average price of $200.0069 per share occurred on July 10, according to the Form 4 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, just after this.
According to a source, Bezos implemented a trading strategy known as Rule 10b5-1 on March 2, 2024, under which these sales were carried out. After these deals, Bezos owns 928,433,873 shares of Amazon.
Bezos declared earlier this month that he intended to sell 25 million of the company's almost $5 billion worth of shares. Bezos would own 912 million Amazon shares following the deal, representing an 8.8% ownership position in the business.
Bezos sold Amazon shares in February 2024 for a total estimated value of nearly $8.5 billion over nine trading days. Amazon's stock fell 2.37% to $195.05 on Thursday. Over 30% of the stock's value has increased year to date (YTD).
