Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has alleged that the people in Tamil Nadu were not being permitted to watch the consecration ceremony inside temples at various locations in the state, one day after she claimed the Tamil Nadu government had stopped the live telecast of the Ram Mandir festivities in Ayodhya.

Sitharaman took to X and mentioned a few locations where it was forbidden for visitors to watch the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir using the LED screens within the temples.

Sitharaman wrote in a series of posts on X, "LED screens are being dismantled with plain-clothed officers inside the famous Kamakshi Kovil, which is privately held and where bhajans have started from 8:00hrs. Witnessing @PMOIndia perform Prana Prathishta in a privately owned temple is a grave violation of our right to worship. The rights of its inhabitants are utterly ignored by the DMK government in Tamil Nadu. The anti-Hindu DMK now uses police force to show how much it despises Prime Minister @narendramodi and stifles people's dreams.

According to her, 466 LED screens were set up in the Kancheepuram district alone for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's live broadcast in Ayodhya, and at over 400 of those locations, the police had either seized the screens or used force to stop the live telecast.

"LED vendors are running scared. The DMK, which is anti-Hindu, is targeting small companies. This is known as "Vayathile Adipathu" in Tamil, the author wrote.

Nirmala Sitharaman claimed citizens in the state were not permitted to arrange events connected to the consecration of the Ram Temple, which sparked a verbal spat between her and the Tamil Nadu government on Sunday. Sitharaman had further claimed that on the day of the temple's consecration, Lord Ram puja was prohibited in temples run by the Tamil Nadu government.

State Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR and CE), P K Sekar Babu, refuted the accusations. Babu claimed in a statement on Sunday that there have been no restrictions placed on the rights of devotees to present food, do pujas in the name of Lord Ram, or give prasad in Tamil Nadu temples.

In an effort to draw attention away from the DMK Youth Conference in Salem, Sekar Babu declared that he vehemently condemns the dissemination of misleading information. "It is regrettable that those in positions of authority, such as Union Finance Minister Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman and others are deliberately disseminating false information," he continued.

Although there hasn't been a government order prohibiting the holding of any event-related programmes, misunderstanding lingered among devotees and temple authorities overseen by the HR and CE Department. The police in a few districts refused to allow the organizers to set up LED screens within the temple premises to webcast the event after a few videos and photographs of the allegedly issued order by the local district administrations surfaced.
