In an effort to position Uttar Pradesh as a future center for semiconductor manufacture, the government has cleared the path for two significant projects totaling over Rs 32,000 crore.
It is suggested that the two private sector plants be located close to Greater Noida's Jewar International Airport, which is now under construction.
The state cabinet has cleared the way for the two projects, which are expected to generate 15,000 job opportunities, by approving the subsidy component of over Rs 9,000 crore to be supplied over the next five years. The Hiranandani group's Tarq Semiconductors plans to invest Rs 28,440 crore in a semiconductor fabrication plant that would be established in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority enclave.
The State and the Center will each contribute 25% of the project's overall cost as a capital subsidy. The request for UP's 25% capital subsidy, or roughly Rs 7,037 crore, towards the project was approved by the state cabinet. It is anticipated that the Torque project will create 10,000 indirect and 1,000 direct jobs in the state.
Anil Kumar Sagar, principal secretary for UP industrial development, stated that after commercial production begins, the project will receive more incentives.
