Dell Technologies has announced another wave of job cuts as part of its strategy transition to an AI-centric future. Bloomberg said that the corporation is restructuring its processes to become "leaner" and more nimble in the face of fast technology improvements.
While Dell has not released particular statistics, this latest staff cut follows huge layoffs in 2023, during which the business eliminated over 13,000 positions. The corporation plans to optimize its resources and spend extensively in AI research and development.
Executives Bill Scannell and John Byrne announced the decision to staff via an internal memo. This layoff has had an impact on staff in the sales and marketing departments. "Through a reorganization of our go-to-market teams and an ongoing series of actions, we are becoming a leaner company," a spokeswoman said. Dell's main PC business has encountered difficulty in recent years as demand increased during the pandemic. However, with the PC industry showing signs of revival, the business hopes that AI-powered gadgets could spark a fresh round of upgrades."
"We aim to grow faster than the market by seamlessly meeting our customers and partners online, virtually, or in person, to unlock the value of modern IT and AI for their organizations," the Dell executives said in a memo to employees.
Dell reduced their employment by 13,000 people in 2023. The IT behemoth disclosed this amount in a recent regulatory filing, which also claimed that the business employs around 120,000 individuals worldwide as of February.
