China's ManusAI Emerges to Challenge America's Dominance in AI

By Consultants Review Team Wednesday, 12 March 2025

Following DeepSeek's shockwave, China has made headlines again with the launch of ManusAI, an advanced AI agent developed by Chinese startup Monica. This new AI system is poised to challenge the dominance of American AI powerhouses such as OpenAI and Google.

What is ManusAI?

ManusAI, which debuted on March 6, 2025, is billed as the world's first fully autonomous AI agent. Unlike traditional AI models, which require specific instructions, ManusAI can analyze, plan, and execute complex tasks independently across multiple domains. ManusAI's capabilities extend beyond those of existing AI assistants, from planning a trip to Japan to conducting in-depth stock analysis.

The company mentioned the AI agent on X (formerly known as Twitter).

ManusAI Key Features and Capabilities

ManusAI's key features include complete autonomy, multi-domain capabilities, high-precision personalisation, and real-time operation. The AI agent can filter New York properties using multiple criteria, write Python programs to calculate budgets, and generate detailed reports. It can also perform precise correlation analysis between stocks and connect to authoritative data sources via APIs.

On the GAIA benchmark, which assesses general AI assistants' ability to solve real-world problems, ManusAI achieved new state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance across all three difficulty levels. The AI agent is said to outperform OpenAI and previous leading models, with accuracy rates of 86.5%, 70.1%, and 57.7% at Levels 1, 2, and 3, respectively.

Implications and Concerns

While ManusAI's capabilities have received widespread attention, they also raise concerns about the potential misuse of autonomous AI systems. The ability to operate without human intervention could result in automated cyber operations, misinformation campaigns, or large-scale surveillance. Cybersecurity experts warn that such AI systems may circumvent digital security measures, posing risks to financial systems, government institutions, and multinational corporations.

ManusAI represents a transition from research-driven innovation to real-world deployment of autonomous systems.
