Following the news that more than 2,000 freshers from the 2022 batch received final offer letters from Infosys, about 700 campus hires are still awaiting their joining dates, according to persons affected by the delay.
The opportunities are for System Engineers (SE) and Digital Specialist Engineers (DSE), who claim to have completed two pre-training sessions, the most recent in August. About 500 of these are seeking SE positions in the 2022 batch, while roughly 200 are DSE candidates in the 2023 class.
India's second-largest software exporter submitted offer letters in 2022 but did not hire the individuals because the IT sector suffered a downturn. However, this situation affects the whole sector. Fears of an approaching recession in key IT markets, combined with a lack of discretionary expenditure, caused enterprises to suspend recruiting, resulting in a multi-decadal decrease in personnel.
According to the Pune-based employee organization Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), Infosys delivered letters with joining dates to nearly 1,000 freshers from its 2022 campus hiring on September 3, barely one day after issuing a comparable number of letters.
