Adani Group has formed a new subsidiary to establish a data centre in Mumbai. According to reports, it is one of the half-dozen cities picked by the consortium to initially establish data centres.

"We would like to inform that on February 4th, AdaniConnex Private Limited, the Company's joint venture with EdgeConnex Europe BV, incorporated a WOS (wholly owned subsidiary) namely, Mumbai Data Center Limited ('MDCL')." This new arm will assist businesses in developing, operating, and maintaining data centres, information technology, information technology enabled services (ITES), cloud computing, and providing related services, as well as undertaking infrastructure development activities such as land acquisition and development, according to the company.

"MDCL will begin business operations in due course". The diversification follows the Centre's drive for data localization.
