Renewable energy is a topic that's been on everyone’s minds in recent years not only because of its being at the forefront of many political and social conversations worldwide, but because it is an issue so many people feel passionate about. Renewable energy usage is on the rise. India’s renewable energy sector is the fourth most attractive renewable energy market in the world. The country is ranked fourth in wind power, fifth in solar power and fifth in renewable power installed capacity as of 2018. With the Government’s commitment towards the increased use of clean energy sources, renewable energy has the potential to create many employment opportunities at all levels, especially in rural areas. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has set an ambitious target to set up renewable energy capacities to the tune of 225 GW by 2022, of which about 114 GW is planned for solar, 67 GW for wind and other for hydro and bio among other. India’s renewable energy sector is expected to attract investment worth US$ 80 billion in the next four years. About 5,000 Compressed Biogas plants will be set up across India by 2023 and it is expected that by 2040, around 49% of the total electricity will be generated by renewable energy.

Nowadays renewables, specifically wind and photovoltaic, are cheaper than conventional energies in much of the world. The main renewable technologies – such as wind and solar photovoltaic – are drastically reducing their costs, such that they are the most economically efficient way to generate electricity in a growing number of markets. Renewable energies are becoming popular at lightning speed as one of the most sustainable solution, not only environmentally but also economically, for powering the world. In this issue of Consultant Review magazine we have featured a list of ’10 Most Promising Renewable Energy Consultants - 2020’. With more and more companies switching to renewable energy adoption, Energy consultants are stepping up to conduct technical reviews, maintain systems and implement procedures to support energy efficiency solutions while monitoring the energy consumption of an organisation. We hope the issue helps you find the right consultant and we achieve our mission.
