However, in this land, cities often mean chaos, it means fighting a war once out on the roads, it means the survival for the fittest as a natural order. Its pavements are utilized for varied kind of work from walking, eating, praying, driving, shopping, to urinating and excreting to even procreating. Rampant speeding, honking, spitting, littering are taken for grant-ed. Redressals from police and administration are mostly limited and severely compromised basis influence or po-litical affiliations. An anxiety grips in everytime our near and dear ones go out on the roads to navigate the traffic or laws of the land.A land where basic mannerism like standing in a queue or driving in a lane is viewed as inefficient and weak and its citizen's second nature is to deface any in-frastructure that looks beautiful. As if its citizens just can't stand any good thing. But it is acceptable for a car to honk out pedestrians as a right to way anytime, any-where. It is acceptable that we need ropes held by police to stop us from crossing a road on a red light.Oh yes, we have another very shameful reality - We are part of cities teeming with millions of jostling and leering men. We are who are feared by millions of for-eigners and female travellers. We are in India.We Have Serious Economic, Social and Political Issues Too1 percent of the population owns 58 percent of the total wealth, the bottom 30 percent of the population owns nothing as aggregate. Just 2-3 percent of the population pays tax. Even then a major portion of this tax goes to fund for public sector companies looting their own huge natural resource holding or this tax goes to fund bad loans from the public sector banks.IIN MY OPINIONA TALE OF OUR CITIESTHE LOST PRIDE-
